      Clark County, at its formation, embraced all of what is now Pike, Dallas, Hot Spring, Garland and part of what is now Saline and Montgomery Counties, but it has been divided and sub-divided until there is only square miles in the county, and that is one township larger than it was before the days of “Reconstruction” in the South. This book was written about the early settlers in what is now North Carolina. It seems that a Robert and Lillias Johnston moved into Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina in the same time frame that our Thomas Johnson would have been there. Kentucky. He is believed to be buried on Long Fork-(Pike County). The Will is located in Book A.

The Pike County Archives and History Society was founded in and is a C3 tax-exempt, non-profit organization. The organization is dedicated to collecting and preserving materials which brings together the unique history of Pike County, Arkansas.

In Arkansas County, among the early prominent men who were active in the county’s affairs were Eli I. Lewis, Henry Scull, O. Thomas, T. Farrelly, Hewes Scull, A. Thetford and Lewis Bogy. The latter afterward removed to Missouri, and has permanently associated his name with the history of that State.

Pike County Arkansas' 25th county, it was formed on November 1, out of Clark and Hempstead counties. It was named for explorer, Zebulon Pike, who discovered Pike's Peak in Colorado. The first known residents of the area were the Native American tribes of Quapaw, Kadohadacho, and Cahinnio.

Pike County sports a greater geological diversity that any other part of the United States. It is also home to the Crater of Diamonds State Park, an ancient volcanic crater and the eighth largest diamond deposit in the world. This is the only site where the public can search and keep what they find.
